Spring sprouts all new ideas and inspiration for upcoming brides, from color palettes to trendy blooms we’ve gathered some gorgeous photos published in Southern Weddings to create four unique mood boards!

Lavender and Silk

This light and airy pair is perfect for the budding warmth this season brings. This wedding, shot by Nancy Ray Photography used softer tones to create a beautiful impact! We love the long ribbons floating from the bouquets!

Dusty Neutrals

This stunning wedding, shot by Graham Terhune Photography took place at a camp where the couple met back in their teenage years. Between the antique accents and the untamed florals, we couldn’t resist using their big day as a mood board. Combining Queen Ann’s lace with thistle, scabiosa pods, and other greens they sweetly turned foraged wildflowers into elegant arrangements.

Peaches and Peonies

Bright pink peonies and peachy accents blended beautifully for this styled shoot, photographed by Tec Petaja. The sweetness of spring carries back bright colors and the vibrance of life after long chilly winters. To add pops of color to your wedding consider bolder tones like pinks and oranges to bring warmth to your day!

Wispy Whites

Classic whites lightly kissed pink are sure to bring wedding envy to any bride. This sweet color combination echoes romance, especially when paired with a breathtaking venue. This equestrian wedding, shot by KT Merry Photography, has all the perfect springtime elements, including plenty of dogwood blossoms!

How to Budget for your Wedding Blooms

Most brides pin lush centerpieces, giant earthy bouquets, and intricate arches to their dream wedding boards on Pinterest, but are not quite sure what price tag follows along with their visions.

Trying to budget for flowers can be a bit tricky seeing as a few different factors mesh together to come up with a total.

Typically, type of flower (peonies vs. tulips), amount of flowers used, and the size of the arrangements are all calculated out to come up with prices.

Recently, Green Wedding Shoes blogged about pricing, showing three different sized centerpieces for three different price ranges. Cavin Elizabeth Photography captured the shoot designed by Taya of Compass Florals.

These organic blooms are beloved by many brides recently, giving a great guideline for anyone planning their big day!

As you can see, the first arrangement is sweet and simple, and the cheapest of the three totally $100-$150. The middle one of $175-$225 has a fuller look as well as more expensive blooms. The last example is priced at $250 and up, the reason for this is the addition of peonies and ranunculus among others.

Though these might not be your dream arrangements, their size and type of flowers are a great guideline to refer to while planning!

While some florists offer packages, we believe each couple is so unique that every wedding we design is custom. We meet with you to narrow down your flower needs then price everything out, letting you walk away with a quote in hand.

Based off of our past weddings we find that (typically) most weddings quotes come out to about $3500.00. Now, this could mean a smaller wedding spent more to have bigger arrangements with high-end flowers, or that a bigger wedding had simpler flowers.

It has become a standard baseline for couples to spend 20% of their total budget on flowers, meaning a $20,000 wedding could plan to use $4,000 on flowers, though these calculations don’t match up for everyone.

With every couple needing different pieces, and having different styles, wedding flower prices can really vary, but if you plan ahead mapping out what you need (and can afford to spend) and go into your floral consultation knowing your budget, you will create such an enjoyable part of your wedding planning!

Real Wedding: Lauren and Jovanni

Over the past year blush and ivory palettes became a bridal favorite, and Lauren and Jovanni’s wedding perfectly captures all the romance these colors bring.

The two married on August 20th, 2016 at St. Lawrence O’Toole church, later celebrating at The Aria.

Their big day beautifully blended bridal glam with classic touches, which is most highlighted in Lauren’s bouquet!

Terri created round style bouquets for both the bride and bridesmaids using white garden roses, hydrangea, ranunculi, and blush roses, wrapping them in ivory ribbon. She used jeweled fabric to add a pop of glitz and allow Lauren’s bouquet to really shine!

Jovanni and his groomsmen wore white ranunculus boutonnières, and their sweet flower girl walked down the aisle with a baby’s breath flower crown.

Their reception flowers matched the bridal party with roses and hydrangea, keeping everything in sync. For the centerpieces we used tall gold pilsner vases and low mercury fairytale vases for variation. Flowers seemed to grow out of every inch of The Aria during Lauren and Jovanni’s reception.

Blooms greeted guests as they entered and passed the place card table, decorated with a stunning manzanita tree arrangement full of roses, hydrangea, and orchids. We fixed clusters of roses and hydrangea along the staircase to compliment the scalloped fabric. At the bottom of the staircases sat their sweetheart table, decorated with small julep cups and matching flowers.

Popular Wedding Flowers

With thousands of flowers growing all over the world it may seem hard to pick a handful of favorites, but when it comes to weddings, some blooms are chosen over and over again.

Many brides already have their “must have” flower list in mind before they slide their engagement ring on, while others need time to decide what blooms will go into their bridal bouquet.

We’ve created a list of 15 flowers that have been steadily popular over the past year. Terri designed each of these floral creations within the past few years and we gathered them all because they highlight one of the most used flowers by brides and grooms!

Real Wedding: Colleen and Samuel

Pale pinks and earthy greens made up the romantic color scheme for Colleen and Samuel’s magazine worthy wedding.

The two married on July 3rd, 2016 at Woodwinds in Branford with seaside views and lush blooms surrounding their big day.

The spotlight in Colleen’s bouquets beamed over the peonies, an all-time popular wedding flower. In the bridal bouquet Terri used muted pale pinks and whites, while in the bridesmaids she bumped up the color a bit with deeper pink peonies and lisianthus.

Pink and white peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, astilbe, lisianthus, and eucalyptus made up these gorgeous bouquets. With a lighter color scheme the richer tones in the bridesmaids flowers added a romantic burst of color.

For the fellas, Terri made ranunculus boutonnières to compliment the girls bouquets.

Her organic look overflowed indoors into their centerpieces and cake décor too!

Similar flowers were used in their arrangements with the addition of pink roses, hydrangea, spray roses, and Queen Anne’s lace.

This couples airy look paired with the ease of the shoreline created the perfect blend for wedding day bliss.

Real Wedding: Kristy and Brockett

Kristy and Brockett said “I do” in classic fairy tale form at the Riverview on October 16th, 2016.

Their entire day was filled with romance and tropical touches in both their ceremony and reception.

Kristy’s bridal bouquet of phalaenopsis orchids was beautifully unique. Terri mirrored the bridesmaids bouquets by using similar white and purple orchids. The groom and groomsmen wore orchid boutonnieres to carry the flower trend throughout the wedding party.

The couple married under an arch covered in twinkling lights and lush flowers. We used hydrangea, roses, stock, wisteria, and fairy lights to create this romantic backdrop for Kristy and Brockett. Their aisle was lined with clusters of roses and hydrangea, tied with multicolored ribbons to match their color scheme.

After they sealed their marriage with a kiss the couple and their friends and family went inside to celebrate their love. Submerged purple orchids in various cylinder sizes sat in the center of each table, while smaller arrangements lined their sweetheart table.

We loved working with this couple and helping their wedding day visions come to life.

Real Wedding: Adam and Janelle

On a gorgeous autumn afternoon Adam and Janelle said “I do” under a large oak tree at The Red Barn at Hampshire College.

The ceremony scene could not have been any more beautiful; surrounded by turning trees and picturesque valleys, the couple picked the perfect season to get married in.

Their charming rustic wedding fit perfectly with the venue and its natural location. The bridesmaids deep turquoise dresses gave a bright pop to the color scheme. The girls held baby’s breath bouquets, a bloom very popular with barn weddings! She wrapped them in turquoise burlap and used twine to create a ballerina knot design as a final touch.

Janelle’s bouquet was full of bright colors and textures. Terri used sunflowers, orange orchids, chocolate Queen Anne’s lace, peach roses, orange calla lilies, and green succulents to bring the fall foliage shades to her bouquet. Wrapped in ivory ribbon, Terri matched the brides bouquet with the rest by finishing it off with the ballerina knot.

For the guys, we wrapped orange calla lilies and feathered eucalyptus with twine, to blend in the rustic charm.

Sunflowers were also used in the ceremony décor as well. We hung a dozen sunflower, hydrangea, and moss filled glass globes throughout the venues oak tree. To add another backdrop element we draped fabric across two giant branches to bring in a classic arch look.

The reception was just as sweet as their ceremony setup! We used blue mason jars with baby’s breath bouquets to complete their cozy barn setting. The flowers were accompanied by small votive candles and a burlap wrapped bottle of wine that doubled as a table number.

Between the views of red and orange foliage for miles, Janelle’s blooming bouquet, and the couples sweet touches, their big day highlights all the beauty of an autumn wedding!

Autumn swept away summer with turning leaves and pumpkin lined porches, bringing in tons of colorful inspiration for this seasons weddings.

After the initial shock of becoming engaged, many couples first choose a season to plan their wedding in, perhaps they decide based off the weather, meaningful dates, or simply because their dream wedding always involved snow covered streets or seaside dancing.

Though deep reds and burgundy’s may seem to be a classic pair with autumn weddings, there are many ways to give them a little twist. These three bouquets, though similar, show how you can add different flowers and colors to create something unique. The first bouquet, made by Terri, highlights gold and pink as accent colors. These shades blend beautifully together, and the gold adds a bit of sparkle and glam to the bouquet. The second burgundy beauty has more muted blooms accompanying it. Light pinks and dusty greys create an airy look, yet it’s still fitting with the fall season. The final bouquet was also made by Terri and allows greens to share the spotlight. Eucalyptus and dusty miller blend well with burgundy celosia and gerberas, giving off a stunning organic look!

Timeless color combinations of dusty greys and rich burgundy’s complimented their city soiree later at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The bridesmaids bouquets were pieced together with lush and lavish flowers, including: celosia, dahlias, lisianthus, freesia, roses, and Queen Anne’s lace. As for Lisa’s bouquet, Terri used lighter toned flowers so her white anemone’s would be the belle of the ball!

Their venue was nothing short of fabulous, gold desiray bowls held their centerpieces full of velvety colors, while gold mercury votive candles shed some romantic light throughout the evening.

The arrangements were styled with burgundy lilies and ranunculus, celosia, roses, ivy, beargrass, and seeded eucalyptus.

Real Wedding: Erica and Brandon

Erica and Brandon’s waterfront wedding is a picture perfect example of how unique couples can be when planning their big day.

The two were married on August 27th, 2016 at Brandon’s families lake house in Winsted, Connecticut. At the end of their dock, under clear blue skies and in front of nearly a dozen loved ones, the pair said “I do”.

To create their dream wedding, Erica and Brandon focused on blending an intimate ceremony with a laid-back reception of about 150 guests.

The couple kept their wedding party small, with three people total: a maid of honor, groomsman, and Erica’s sweet daughter Ella as their flower girl. Later, they celebrated at The Village at Boulder Ridge under a pavilion full of flowers, lanterns, and love.

Terri has been friends with Erica’s mother, Noreen, since the two were in grammar school, so when the wedding preparation began Terri was thrilled to be involved. They then asked me to photograph the wedding and how could I have said anything but yes!

Two bouquets, one flower crown, one wrist corsage, 30 arrangements, and five garlands were used to complete their flower wish list.

Erica’s bridal bouquet was completely stunning. A wild and natural look paired well with her entire day. Terri used some beautiful blooms in both the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets. A mix of garden roses, queen anne’s lace, ranunculus, succulents, freesia, dahlias, and greens made up these bright and breezy bouquets.

A sweet flower crown of eucalyptus and spray roses was worn by Ella, the most photogenic flower girl I have ever seen!

After some wedding party photos in downtown Riverton and at the Saville Dam in Barkhamsted, the couple arrived to a packed pavilion full of friends and family.

To welcome guests, two twelve foot garlands draped along the entry railings, while a rustic chalkboard greeted everyone. Inside, under dozens of lanterns and banners, each picnic table had a weathered wooden box full of flowers that matched the bouquets.

We loved the personal touches at their reception. From the vintage card holder, to the sangria bar, Erica and Brandon’s afternoon was full of creativity and entertainment.

Boulder Ridge was the perfect spot for a laidback style wedding. With dozens of kids in attendance, the venue offered a swimming pool, playground, volleyball courts, and even a zip line!

After hours of mingling, eating, drinking, and diving in the pool, it was time for everyone to enjoy the dessert table!

A three-tiered cake, decorated with more fresh flowers was the main event, but the grooms cake, a life-like fish replica to highlight Brandon’s favorite past-time, caught everyone’s eye.

We loved the carefree air that surrounded their big day, these two are a genuine example of what marrying your best friend looks like. We loved working with them and hope they have nothing but happiness as their marriage begins!
