I arrived home late Thursday night from the Wedding MBA conference that was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and my brain is on “SMO”… social media overload! I have returned with so many new apps, stats and ideas it will probably take me a week just to sift through them all.
Monday afternoon began the first session of the conference, with 4 floral specific programs. At first glance I would guesstimate that there were 100 florists & event designers from across the country in attendance and each 45 minute presentation was extremely informative & fun. I especially loved the presentation by the fabulous and funny Rene van Rems he is just so informative & educating and yes he really is funny! Continental Flowers from Miami supplied Rene with wonderful varieties of flowers that perfumed the entire conference room. Tuesday through Wednesday the full day sessions of programs began and from 8:00am to 4:00pm it was non stop action of seminars and wed talks with some of the top people in the wedding industry. There was also a wonderful trade fair with vendors representing all areas of the industry, I can’t wait until our crystal display pieces arrive! Sonny Ganguly,CMO & Timothy Chi, CEO of Wedding Wire and their entire team were awesome not only with their presentations but with their interactive displays at the trade fair. Thank you Wedding Wire for being a corporate sponsor to the conference. Oh did I mention Alan Berg ,he as always offers a wonderful invigorating presentation.
So, I must admit it was not all work….there was some fun thrown in. Great dinners with my sister & brother-in-law who live in Vegas and my friend Luigi who was also attending the conference. We also saw Cirque du Soleil LOVE, the Beatles music was great but the show was absolutely spectacular, I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vegas. there was even some poolside fun & sun. Oh and then there were the cocktail parties hosted by The Knot and Wedding Wire, they were both held on Tuesday night and were so much fun, mind you I do not even drink and it was still hard to get up on Wednesday morning!
So Thursday came all too quickly and at noon the conference concluded. As I headed home, I thought of how grateful and thankful I am to have met so many new acquaintances and learned so many new ideas.
