From the balmy sun, to the blooming wildflowers, Meredith Richards and Brett Trentham’s waterside ceremony was utterly picture perfect.
The summer sun beamed down over the Florence Griswold Museum grounds, highlighting all the natural beauty of Mere and Brett’s big day. The couple married on August 22nd, 2015 amongst friends and family.
The two chose a sweet and subtle color scheme of pastels: teal, peach, white and shades of pink were tied into the entire day.
The couples summer celebration took place at the Florence Griswold Museum, in Old Lyme. The striking property is lined with gardens and earthy landscaping, allowing a beautiful backdrop for guests no matter where they stand. The museum of art and history focuses on telling Connecticut’s story in the formation of American art.
Jeffrey Anderson, the museum director says, “During the early years of the 20th century, the Lyme Art Colony, centered in Miss Florence Griswold’s boardinghouse, became America’s most famous summer art colony. Today this museum of art and history tells the story of how Connecticut played a pivotal role in fostering an authentic American art.”
This museum was a wonderful place to begin Mere and Brett’s history together as a married couple.
Mere’s bouquets were full of life and color. The main flowers used were: Juliet roses, and dahlias, mixed with bunches of wildflowers. The bridesmaids dresses were individually stunning, but when they all stood together they highlighted the pros of the “mix-and-match” trend.
Recently, brides give their girls a color scheme to follow, allowing them to choose something that fits their personality best. These lively bouquets paired perfectly with each girl, tying in Brett and Mere’s pastel palette.
Another trend we love to see used in real weddings is the inclusion of a flower crown. For this ceremony, the flower girl flaunted pale pink roses atop her head, but many times brides, or bridesmaids will wear them as well. The flower crown is just another way to add a spark of uniqueness to the big day!
During the ceremony the couple and their bridal party walked along side two rows of fresh flowers. Just like the bouquets, roses and wildflowers were used, in addition to peach ranunculus, white hydrangeas, dusty miller, and raspberry celosia, creating a dreamy walkway.
After the tear-filled (happy ones of course) ceremony ended, the couple stepped away for a gorgeous photo-shoot, highlighting not only the romantic property, but the true love between Brett and Mere.
The aisle treatment from the ceremony was repurposed and used as the couples head table runner, a lovely way to reuse flowers! Each table featured a rustic wooden box filled with the same blooms as the runner: hydrangeas, roses, ranunculus, dusty miller, and celosia. Mixing the wooden accent with the pale flowers created a warm and rustic centerpiece for the reception.
We absolutely loved working with this fabulous couple and bringing their flower visions to life! Their wedding was so charming we couldn’t resist sharing it with all of you!
